10% PDM Money For PWDS Needs To Be Properly Aligned For Use – Hon. Mpindi

PRIMA

Hon. Mpindi Bumali, the Member of Parliament representing Persons with Disabilities, has urged leaders to ensure that the 10% funds allocated from the PDM project are properly extended and accessed by PWDs, especially in rural areas, as originally intended.

This call came during the 3-day Uganda grantee convening organized by NUDIPU with support from DRF/DRAF, focusing on providing technical assistance and oversight to grantee organizations of persons with disabilities under the theme "Celebrating Achievements; Accelerating the implementation of Human rights for persons with disabilities in Uganda."

During discussions, challenges were highlighted regarding PWDs accessing funds meant for their development, with calls for streamlined processes from the government.

Hon. Mpindi Bumali emphasized the importance of utilizing data from the upcoming 2024 Census to allocate resources and support to PWDs better.

Furthermore, the Honorable encouraged active participation of PWDs in national elections to ensure effective representation and leadership for the country’s development.
